Compulsory bottle of wine bought on the way home from work. (Won't actually drink it, though.)

I won't bother with a drink now until next Thursday (Man Utd Vs Anderlecht).
Weekends are more fun without gargle.

Nah, don't need a drink that bad and I despise profiteers

Had a lovely night out with workmates yesterday and still a bit groggy anyway. It's just that it would be nice to have the option to drink later, but fuck it!

In January I got rid of 20 bottles of wine and other alcohols.
Next time i do another clean-up I'll let you know if you want to stock-pile.

People keep offering wine (and not always the best quality, but never the worst), when I have virtually not drunk a drop in over 2 years...

Having a legally dry day is a pointless anachronism. But at the same time for people who contemplate a day without a drink, it should send them a wake-up call.

I think that its being told you're not allowed to do it, makes you want to do it more.

But who takes the "authority" of the churches who imposed it seriously nowadays?
Acting childishly towards the interdiction is exactly what the religious perverts want people to do.

I would not have noticed it was not allowed if I had not read this thread.
And if by any measure of chance I had had a dinner for which I had wanted to by wine, and found out this morning that it was not possible, I would have just changed my plans.

Ok so. I was just saying. A lot of people dont like being told what they can and cant do. So to to tell them they cant, theyll do the exact opposite. Hence all the people in Tesco yesterday with trolley loads of drink.

That. Or most of them are addict that cannot stand the idea of spending a day without a drink, and should really question their drinking habit.
Not 100% of them, but most.

They may like to think they are teenagery rebels. But must have a drinking problem if they cannot spend a day without a tipple, or a week-end without a bottle.
