Won't be renewed? Everyone wins! I kid! I kid!

I'm not sure if torrenting has such an impact on TV shows, as their ratings go down when people DVR them. Its such an inefficient tracking system.

cunt!!

Yeah dvr hurts as well but you can't get away from the fact that piracy of bubble shows could affect renewal and the relevant( not rich) staff.

Now to find a site to download the return on Saturday....

Maybe I'm wrong but I'd imagine that we download more here than in the States. Nearly everything I download is a TV show that hasn't been screened here yet. Plus, America seems to have more of a Tivo/Netflix culture than us.

One argument is that it's a victimless crime.

No it's not. It's just easier to moralise taking something from big evil companies. Of course they pass losses on to cast, crew, writers etc. apart from cancellations, a writer who comes up with an ingenious show surely deserves compensation from you for creating something you really enjoy, no? He gets much less if you pirate.

Struggling actors who don't get royalty cheques from DVD sales? Don't tell me the likes of Johnny Drama doesn't need all thr cash he can get!

Shareholders in the big bad movie companies lose out, as do pension funds which invest in them. Which means pensioners do too.

What about retail stores like Hmv etc where many have closed or have job loses because people don't buy DVD's or music, they download illegally. Staff lose jobs, government loses tax revenues from sales?

netflicks seems pointless if sky has the rights to all the shows we want to see. Would it not be better to get sky+ so?

The only thing that'll stop me downloading TV series is if we get them the same time as in the States. At least then I'll just stream it on the iPlayer or something legal. Plus then, NetFlix should have more up to date stuff. I really don't understand why there is a gap anymore at all.

@flogg - The only actors who get a percentage of DVD sales are the massive stars like Tom Cruise. Johnny Drama would never get a DVD cut.

Also, like I said, if there was an option where i could watch all my TV shows legally without waiting anything from 6 months to 3 years, then I would go for that option. But there isnt.

I blame the cinemas.
If they actually gave a shit about the people who go to watch a movie and had ushers who kicked people out who made noise or used phones then i would still be going to the cinema instead of downloading the movies.

I also blame shops like HMV who have continued to charge stupid prices for DVDs.
I no longer have money to splash out on DVDs, but anyone who has seen my collection knows i prefare to have the DVD over a download.
I can not understand how they get away with charging €20+ for a new dvd. Its a scam.

If they had anyone with a brain working for them they would have jumped on the idea of cheap movie and music downloads a long time ago. €5 for the movie (plus extras) and the cover and dvd art so a person could print it themselves would have made them a fortune. All we want is a reasonable price.

Im without guilt when i download movies or tv shows.
If its something i really like then i will still buy it.
For christmas i bought myself the blue ray of 'Zombie' thanks to the Amazon voucher i won in the firestarter competition. I already have about 3 other copies on dvd but i really wanted the extras and of course the improved quality picture, even though i had to watch it on my parents tv to appreciate it.

Just give me an argument wh it's not theft, dammit!

Em I thought I did? That people should have a right to access works of culture and that filesharing between the public is a way of providing that access to those who lack the means to purchase these articles themselves. Perhaps not too unsurprisingly I read that from a movement of frenchies for filesharing.

Maybe in the show but it just wouldn't happen to a star of Johnny Drama's calibre. Vinnie Chase on the other hand...

Oh that shit its crazy dope! my Irish netflix account now shows all the US offering on my laptop. I can also get hulu etc for free.

I realise I am probably being somewhat hypocritical in accessing hulu etc in violation of their terms of service in light of my above comments, but at I'm watching their commercials.

Note: my above comments werent saying I was judging anybody, I just don't think there's any point in equivocating about it. I'm happy to admit that I'm doing something I shouldn't, though I will be paying my netflix subscription.
