Since Irish legislation was made less stringent re. access to TV, RTE decided to cut back on subtitles 'due to financial constraints.'

Well, in order to save money, why not simply not remove the sound track. Hmm, what's that you say? you can't, because it's necessary? So are bloody subtitles.

Before anyone thinks I am talking about myself, hold your horses.

I am not a real TV watcher. Yet I was talking to elderly people who suffered age-related hearing loss, and they were quite upset at the removal of subtitles from their favourite tv programmes.

What's 'Good on TV' has now changed for these people.

Indeed. Absolutely disgraceful. Thank the BAI for that. (BAI = Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.)

Harrumph.

Well, due to this and similar actions in other countries, we set up a campaign for more access to television, internet videos and so on via captioning/subtitling.

Here is the campaign video where you see Deaf and hard of hearing people explain their perspective.

Psychic Wayne on TV3 is brilliant.

Claims to be a psychic and most nights has a TV3 show where Irish people ring in and most take the piss out of him

Line of duty on bbc2 is extremely good. First time ever seeing it. I'll be keeping a beady eye on this.

I'm sure it's on t.v. somewhere. I used to love this show when I was about thirteen, mainly 'cause Brian Benben was so hot. At least I used to think so but I was just thirteen remember!

Just rewatched one of the best episodes of ER ever!!!

Carter and Lucy get stabbed. Lucy dies. 'Be Still My Heart' is surely (argh, split infinitive) one of the finest pieces of television I have ever seen.
