Anyone know about virtual reality headsets, it seems my phone is not smart enough to work with one so i'm wondering what the alternative might be.

Well you have to have hardware in it? Is it just a bog standard desktop or did you spec it/build it as a gaming rig?

If not, your only option is to wait for the standalone units that are currently in the pipeline. It will be similar to buying a console though, so it will be obsolete shortly after you buy it.

If you build a powerful gaming PC, you can upgrade each time they improve the tech.
Rather than having an attic full of brand name doorstops.

Jumping into VR straight away is kinda like buying a ZX-14r after one lesson

Have you a preference for game types?

There are millions of games.
What system you buy is really down to what type of game you want to play, and what you want to pay for each game as they are released.

Superb choice there Super, i'm mainly interested in flight simulation, had one on an old computer that took ages to load and was just frustrating, like some good old "Shoot 'em up's" too, bang bang stuff mind, not junkies injecting heroin.

PC all the way then me aul mate.

Upgrade the current one to gaming spec, grab a second hand flight stick on the free ads and you are sorted.
Mouse and keyboard is the best way to play shoot em ups, so you are half way there.

Simple controller you'll get for about a tenner 2nd hand.

A more expensive option.

Here's World of Warplanes , just like World of Tanks and World of Warships, it's completely free.

If you want to get all retro? You can emulate any old console on a PC for free and play every game ever made (again... for free).
No programming knowledge needed, just download the emulator, download the games on the same site and bobs your uncle. I use a wireless xbox 360 controller to play all the old console games.
