What Is Your Cholesterol?

# 1 : Friday 18-5-2012 @ 14:23

Following on from the other thread that is locked.

Got results during the week that my cholesterol is gone high again and due to family reasons I am now been put on cholesterol Statin tablets to lower it as mine has been up and down like a yo yo and has never been stable, it feels almost like I have been defeated by it, I have tried diet, exercise and using omega 3 tablets but to no avail.

I did manage to get it down to 4.6 or so which would be ok, but it has gone steadily back up to 5.7 and now 6.1

Been reading stuff in the papers about Statins cutting the risk of heart attack and stroke in people over 50, so maybe its not a bad thing taking them on a regular basis

Got a reading two weeks ago of 10.4! I know, scary. I eat well and exercise, it seems that my liver has been over-producing cholesterol. On meds now.

Staying away from dairy is a good way of knocking down cholesterol.

Yeah tried to diet as well and went to a dietitian and changed my diet and couldn't get it below 5 and with family history my doc decided to put me on a tab which seems to be working!
