What Is Your Cholesterol?

Well seems you probably shouldn't bother unless you have heart disease in the family.

I always notice it's wiry, thin people that have issues with it anyway. Flora basically invented it.

Last time I had mine checked which was the first time I was dreading what the results would be.It was 2 maybe 3 years ago since I had it checked and that feeling is over me again.I must go back.

The last time I had it is checked it was really pleasant and surprising news it was.......3.1

Mine has never gone over three. Actually it's 2.4.

But it means nothing as its not what causes heart disease.

2.4 is great Penny......though is that not too low.I always thought that there was two sides to this?

If I am wrong....hands up I'll apologise.

It may not directly cause heart disease but does it have any other effects on the human body?

Many researchers disagree, it's actually sugar that is your biggest enemy and a lot of these margarines and drinks are full of sugars of some kind.

Plus the type of cholesterol which is linked to aortic heart disease isn't actually tested for.

I'm off to see my GP this afternoon about my cholesterol. I did a blood test a few weeks ago and apparently it was a bit high but still within the normal range but I wanna check with my doctor anyway.

Had a medical in work a couple of weeks ago and was worried about my cholesterol.

That turned out to be normal, I should have been worried about everything else.

Have a list of other ailments to deal with

I'm on Statins now although my cholesterol was only slightly above normal - currently cutting most fats from diet

You can eat yourself healthy, the French , they apparently have an unhealthy diet but paradoxically they don't , the Mediterranean diet is healthy and good,
While it's true that your own body can produce unhealthy levels of cholesterol , you can help the statins and any other medication the gp might have prescribed .
I had a partner with high cholesterol who the gp wanted to put on meds for cholesterol, I don't think they were statins , the gp gave him 3 months to lower his results so he did more exercise and we changed foods low dairy, olive oil, pasta, veg, no meat , all fish , glass or two of red wine and he managed it and lost a few pounds as well.
( there was a rare steak a month ,
Of course I don't know if he broke out at lunch but I suppose the results showed once he started he made a lot of small healthy choices)

It's usually around the 4 mark or so. Was 4.1 the last time I had it checked about a year ago. I certainly don't eat anywhere near as healthily as I should.
I do use Flora though

I went off statins about a year ago as I was having some joint / muscle pain even though I was on a low 10mg dose. Shortly after my cholesterol went up to 6.1. Now a year later its down to 5.5. Still a little out of the normal range but heading in a good direction.
