Car Insurance

Apologies if there are already topics on this.

Just got my car insurance renewal quote from my broker and it has increased by €115 on the prior period. Same car with the past few years and same cover.

The insurer told the broker that the car falls into a high risk/rate category as she queried it with them. Dont think I am that must more of a risk in it this year that last

Has anybody else have their premiums increase?
The renewal is €655

Do shop around but 123.ie tend to work out the cheapest in the market. Aviva quoted me close to €900 at renewal last year. 123.ie quoted me €500 less for the same level of cover and more benefits.

It was a no brainer for me to switch.

Thank for the replies.

The broker checked other companies and the next one was €1,140 with Aviva. In the past my broker has always managed to get a cheaper quote than I have by dealing directly with the insurance company.

Brokers are under pressure on margins due to a rapidly dwindling market. You will definitely do better online at the moment with No Nonsense.ie or 123.ie. You can also try Liberty Insurance.

Do you have an unusual car that it's been reclassified as high risk?

Just make sure you are getting the same cover that you have been quoted for, I know with 123.ie yoj can only get any window either replaced or repaired with their window cover in any one year, if you make a second claim it affects your no claims discount for the next year, also many insurance companies are starting to charge youmif you need to have temp cover on anyone elses car this can add up as it did with me one year with 123 as I had loads of issues with a car I had and they wanted to charge me 50e to change my policy to another car in the same year!
Just a few words of advice from what I have experienced.

Try www.chill.ie

Or bestquote.ie
Quoteme.ie
Topquote.ie
25plus.ie
Also when you get quotes from these might be worth checking out the company that quotes you, these companies charge a 40e admin fee also.
