A mate of mine just got his renewal almost €200 euro cheaper when He switched to Aa and added his wife/took AA membership.

I know I may sound like an advert, but if it helps people to get cheaper policies, you really should check them out.

I got my insurance renewal quote today, I was expecting to be hit with a massive hike, it did go up but €430 for fully comp on a 1.6 isn't bad. I'm with No Nonsense.

All depends on the 1.6 I suppose?
You could be in a 1.6l Citroen with 80bhp, or a 1.6l Integra with 170 horses

Just had my renewal today and Chill got in touch looking for over €1400 for TPFT
Over ten years no claims, no points and they more than double the premium

Cheapest 123 would offer was €1830
Axa wanted €2404
Asgard wanted €3113

I go onto the AA, took AA membership, added my girlfriend to the policy, €710 fully comp including AA recovery/assistance in any car I'm driving or a passenger in.

I found the complete opposite with the AA. I had a policy with them for one year and when I got my renewal it was €200 more expensive than the previous year. My wife had recently got a policy with them and it was cheaper than my renewal despite our similar ages, driving experience and car sizes etc. I asked the guy on the phone why mine was much more expensive and he said it was because my car was Japanese (hers is German) and the parts would have to be imported from Japan if mine needed to be repaired! What a crock of shit! I also found their customer service to be appalling and none of their policies include breakdown assistance, you have to buy this separately.

I got a much cheaper policy from another company including breakdown assistance. My advice is to avoid the AA at all costs. They also were sending letters to me and had my address slightly wrong despite me asking them on several occasions to correct it.

05 is not that old. It's more likely to do with the make and model of the car.

Nope that's what they have said to me any car over 10 years there refusing to insure. I refuse to up date my car I only drive at the weekends as I have a company van. I only got rid of my 99 corolla last year because they were refusing to insure it.

I think that applies to cars 15 years and older. Your 05 car should be fine.
