Buying Stuff On Amazon

# 1 : Thursday 26-12-2013 @ 09:59

I was looking at the other 2 Amazon threads and they seemed a bit specific so i decided to start just a general thread about Amazon.

I tried buying stuff on it a few years ago but it wouldn't accept a laser card at the time. Haven't tried it since. But there seems to be good deals on computer Tablets there so i might give it a go again.
I was reading on the other threads that people in Ireland can only buy stuff from the US site rather than the UK site. Is this correct.?
I have some more questions that I'd like to ask as well, but time is a bit limited at this exact moment.

You can buy from the UK site and you can use laser.

You can't buy from the US site, only the UK one.

When buying from the UK site, make sure the supplier is in Europe or you may be stiffed for customs charges not quoted in the price.

You can buy small stuff from the US like DVDs and books but probably not electrical stuff.

There are some products they just can't ship outside the UK not because they don't want to but because of trade restrictions.

I didn't realise. The DVDs - there's a region issue, isn't there?

Most DVD players are or can be made region free. Bluray is a bit trickier but I recently bought the avengers on bluray from amazon US as it is region free and has the directors commentary which is missing from the UK disc.

Do they still have restriction on selling electrical goods in Ireland (which I was told a few years ago by somebody who works for them is because they are not prepared to get into the business of recyclng electrical items)?

Open a parcel motel a/c. http://www.parcelmotel.com/index.html

Simply give the Parcel Motel UK Address (below) as your delivery address and your parcel will arrive at your local Parcel Motel in Ireland. All you will need to pay is the Parcel Motel transaction charge. €3.50
