Juicing

Is there already a thread? Couldn't find one. Does anyone else do serious juicing as part of their diet?

I'm a cynical bastard and can't stand those people who go on about their food allergies and diets all the time. But I was getting fatter all the time and hadn't felt well in ages. Loads of foods seemed to make me bloat or constipated, so I had to try something. I watched 'Fat Sick and Nearly Dead' and thought I might give juicing a go.

It was quite a surprise. I have lost 11kg, my skin is clearer, my eyes are whiter and I feel calmer and fitter. I don't just have juice - but I try to stick to one meal a day and the rest is juice. I've been doing it for two months now. It's much easier to get veggies this way than to actually cook them.

We've recently started back on our wheatgrass juicing as part of the breakfast ritual. Go through 2 bags a week at the moment, tastes vile but once it kicks in, it does make you feel better.

Haven't used the juicer in ages, had read that fruit juice is stored as fat but your experience seems to contradict that so gonna get juicing again, wheatgrass tastes o/k to me,you can always mix in some fruit juice to the mix.

Fructose also makes your liver fatty, it's as bad as alcohol.

Sounds interesting. I don't think I could go to that extreme but I could deffo use more greens in my diet.

One heaped spoonful of wheatgrass is the equivalent of 1 kilo of cabbage.

Even the fructose in fruit is bad for you if you ingest too much, that's really easily done if you drink a lot of fruit juice and smoothies.

Its in lots of other food/drinks as a cheap replacement for sugar and I think that is the dangerous stuff - well more so than the natural fructose found in fruit

Not true, you see we don't need fructose in our diet so even too much natural sources are bad for you. There's something like seven teaspoons of sugar in a glass of pure apple juice. A tiny glass in the morning is more than enough.
