Brexit

If they leave the EU, it's probably the end of the UK. The British economy will fall apart and Scotland will secede, with Wales likely to follow.

Really? Whats your rationale for that? IMF report out today doesnt see catastrophe ahead.

However, the UK is certainly in danger of breaking up. I can't see Scotland staying.

Wales though? Wales has been joined to the hip of England for most of a millennium. Many Welsh people didn't even see the need for an Assembly. I can't see it going no more than I can see Yorkshire leaving.

Nothing will happen one way or the other. The UK is already out of a lot of things and they have not paid their fair share ever since we joined. So they can stat, they can leave, it is all scare mongering. It will be business as usual whatever is decided. Money will prevail, not the people.

You talk bollocks.. They have been one of biggest contributors too the EU.. I think that's why they want to leave.. Paying in a huge amount & getting nothing back but refugees.. Shit, they probably built half the roads & hospitals in Ireland..

no they haven't , in all of the brexit bullshit and there's been a lot, they've never claimed that , they are one of the net contributors like Ireland is,
They are unwilling contributors .
They moan so much about it you would almos think they contribute as much as Germany who never moan,
Btw everybody knows it was Germany that paid for Ireland's infrastructure ( cohesion funds were never used to build hospitals)
It id Germany that took in 1000000 refugees , the uk refused all Syrian refugees d even unaccompanied children.
they did however get a bigger bill from the eu commission for the proceeds of wasn't it some dodgy dealings in London they didn't think they had to pay for because they were dodgy ?
And Cameron had an anti eu rant ...part of what has got us here.

If they vote out on 23 ,even the instability in the parliament is going to be chaotic as the conservatives tear themselves apart , ukip will be baying for an election , and then Boris will fly off around the world to do deals , the futures so bright ....

This is complete bollox actually. The EU give massive rebate 4.9bn rebate annually to the UK negotiated under Thatcher. And as for the refugee comment wtf.

I agree with Wheelie. I think a Brexit will be a disaster for the UK. Perhaps not overnight, but I see massive capital flight from the UK - and London will not be immune. Scotland will almost certainly want to leave the UK and rejoin the EU as an independent nation. Wales is far too Anglicised to split with England.

Already, the Pound is falling and investors are getting very jittery ahead of the referendum. The British should think very carefully about the implications of a departure from the EU.

The EU needs major reforms, but countries breaking away from it is not the answer.

Any media reports I read on this have all concluded pretty much the same thing. The economic effects will be disastrous.

Because it deserves it! The reason it gets the rebate is because it doesnt benefit from CAP as its agri sector is relatively much smaller than other countries, as well as VAT reasons. Before the rebate, it was paying more than Germany! And way more than France, which has a similar population.

In no year since it joined the EU, has the UK received more than it contributed. Its been led on a merry dance by the EU. Unlike Ireland, who has had the poor hand out since 1973 and is STILL a net RECEIVER from the EU. Ireland is one of the world wealthiest countries. Disgraceful.

So if you have been reading Irish, continental or left wing media sources, of course they will be against Brexit.

No wonder Germany is shitting- its going to have to pay for everyone.

Are you not happy that the EU is about to become more socialist as the power axis shifts south to the Med countries?
(And a lot poorer.)

She had a lot of flaws but she was a powerful woman who knew how to negotiate for a generation not only for the next ministerial post.

But France is much bigger, less densily populated and in the cross-roads of Europe. It does not compare.

ireland is a net Contributor , contributions Are calculated Fromm Vat.
UK gets a Rebate because their Farmers wouldnt have Benefited from cap as much.
Uk contributions now is higher because European statistics Office included illegal Money acitivity in uk Economy like Money laundering Prostitution etc
Im sure they are very Proud the growth in their Economy is due to this !
The last Bill from the Commission was up billions of pound with this recalculation and Cameron tactic was First to tnot to pay , then he asked for a Discount, then they Paid as they Should have in the First Place ....but Without all the anti Europe Crap in the First Place.
