Rural communities are expected to accept knackers/travellers. Housed by the local council. Of course the council officials who make these decisions will ensure that they are not living near them

Travellers are Irish citizens too who also like the general population live in rural as well as urban areas and have every right to housing as the rest of us. Do you not realise this from up there on your perch?

We have enough problems with the local councils housing the knackers who proceed to rob every house in the area without importing more problems.

Weirdly the only time I was ever robbed , the two lads came from a nearby housing development....
One of their Mothers was a teacher.....

Just another reminder that for so many the issue with immigration is not the needs that they carry with them, but the changes they encourage within ourselves. To simply deny someone the opportunity of a home because we have issues with homelessness is pathetic - as it's not based in resources or restructuring, its based on a them-us worldview that is not only faulty, but deeply skewed on a image of a non existent past.

There are issues, but insisting we not engage with them because of some pressures is beyond moronic and simply promotes a racist agenda that does very little to resolve the issues, if anything it facilitates a promotion of them by redirecting people to states and systems that are becoming over stretched.

1. You have interacted with him
2. You speak down to him rudely obnoxiously and atrociously
3. How do you know what is good for him
4. Gaire isnt and hasnt always been peaceful open and amicable
5. Your arguments may have some merit but they are untrenched in pitchfork bullying
6. Please don't hypocrytically talk down to us about peacefulness on here when all you do is belittle another member

While I do not agree with a word of the above I question who you are and your agenda. "rude, abnoxious, pitchfork bullying etc etc". You certainly seem entrenched yourself as stated in point 4 of your treatise in which you point out that Gaire is not peaceful and open. You will note that the banned member is WB, and not me. So an administrator should decide on such matters, not you. As a Russian I see your statements as harsh as the Kommandant of a Penal Colony in Siberia.

Gay rights to be taught in Dutch refugee centres

Refugees in asylum centres are to be given lessons in gay rights, education minister Jet Bussemaker said in an interview in Monday’s Trouw. The lessons will be based on the materials used in Dutch secondary schools, the minister said. The aim is to boost safety and to make clear that anti-gay discrimination will not be tolerated in the Netherlands, the minister said. ‘We should not be naive,’ she said. ‘Refugees come from countries where gay rights are not a matter of course and where women’s rights are not always accepted.’ The education ministry will supply the teaching material and it will be up to individual refugee centres to decide how to to use it.

Separate housing

Bussemaker also wants to involve the gay rights lobby group Coc and the gay police organisation Roze in Blauw in the initiative. In December, five gay asylum seekers in Amsterdam were moved to a new location after they were spat on and attacked by other people in their refugee centre. However, junior justice minister Klaas Dijkhoff said earlier he did not support separate accommodation for gay refugees because it was ‘stigmatising’ and the refugee settlement agency COA also opposes the measure.

I wonder what the gay refugees have to say on the matter. I think their views matter more than a minister's or a resettlement agency's.
