I don't think I'll be going anywhere interesting this year, but if I could it would be Iceland and New York.

For me it would be Iceland for a few days and then on to Texas. I've seen NY too many times (although it is great).

Oh and on the change of flight I'd stay another few days somewhere.

Predawn is a problem? On the way there? That's a great time to fly, you have a full day. Better than flying in at 6pm.

Early flights are a pain, it's not the getting up early that bothers me but the possibility that I'll oversleep and miss my flight. I've often stayed up all night rather than risk oversleeping.

That said, it's great to get to your destination with a full day to look forward to.

I am going to go to Peru with a group of people. I would not normally have had Peru on my list to visit but thought what the hell will go as you only live once.

Did the cable car up to the Rock of Gibraltar today. Wonderful views even across to Morocco. Took nearly two hours to walk down but worth it.

Has anyone any ideas of a short weekend break but somewhere that is not full of tourists yet is cheap and has some historical sites?
