I gave it a minute and then hit fast-forward. It never seemed to get going.

I couldnt understand why it got so many 10 and 12 votes and why it was a large margin win really.

With hindsight, I think Belgium had the best song. A dark synthpop number that a band like Goldfrapp wouldn't turn their noses up at.

But Portugal's ballad was inoffensive. I can think of winning songs that were way worse.

Its a nice win for them though and I bet all the euro press won't mind spending a week in sunny Portugal next year.

Yep. In the 53 years Portugal has competed in Eurovision it has never won. It's nice to see them get the Eurovision trophy at long last.

Belguim was my standout favourite this year. She was very nervous during the semi final but redeemed herself on Saturday. Not a big fan of Portugal's song but delighted for them that they won.

Already confirmed that Meo arena in Lisbon is the venue. The area around it hosted EXPO 98 so it's perfect for the Eurovision village. I'm definitely going next year.

Is this all over now so we can get back to Fair City? They had to move it because of the Eurovision yolk. Very annoying but they made up for it with a double bill yesterday.

And when Portugal slips back into the non winning column for another 39 years they will be saying,
"Fado, fado..."
