Credit Cards are the worst! Never want to have one again. Though they did save my arse at times when I had no other way of paying for stuff I actually needed. Still, the price is too high!

They have gotten so many young people into debt, yet people continuously fall for the charms of being able to buy whatever you want, when you want.

I got my first one because it was the only way to book flights online at the time. But now there's visa debit and all that so need for them anymore.

Exactly.
I got my first one years ago in the early 90's for similar reasons. Using it to book holidays etc... But now that Visa debit is about, as you say, no need to get credit cards any more.

That is a piece of advice I always give the younger members of the family. Never, ever get a credit card and buy things you don't have the money for there and then.
Save up.

I do alright.. no credit card or loans - each month i get paid i put a quarter of it into my credit union to build up, and have a separate "Christmas account" that I'm constantly putting money into so that December doesn't screw me up.

I have my bad months as well though where i go a bit nuts but sure.. you can't be good all the time.

Contactless is dangerous as well because you don't really get an accurate balance... and on nights out the drunker I get, the more tap happy I become without knowing how much is coming out.

Fair play to you.
You were obviously brought up with a decent respect for money and a good work ethic.

People like you will always do well though.
Knocked down on Monday, but have been planning how to get back up since Friday

Not to rain on your parade, Stewie, but you're not paying rent, are you? Small wonder you manage to save money every month!

Cheers superfour it was a tough situation but I bounced back quick enough - I was luckier than most (those with kids, mortgages etc)

First week of my new budgeting going well but its hard to tell until I get a few months behind me.

Just by simply being more careful with money. The milky bars are NOT on me anymore.

I've had a credit card for about 20 years and have always managed to pay the vast majority of my bills every month on time in full. They're great when you can manage that.

Good for you.
Are you keeping an eye on your shopping habits etc...? Cutting out unnecessary purchases?
