Pain - How Do You Handle It?

# 1 : Sunday 19-3-2017 @ 16:24

Do you handle pain well or not at all? Right now I'm pretty much crippled with sciatica that is shooting down my left leg and making my foot half numb. The pain is really bad - I can barely walk - and I'm popping Nurofen Plus like sweeties.

What is the worst pain you've ever been in? Any tips on how you coped? That can mean emotional as well as physical pain.

Is this ongoing or occasional flare ups?
Because a Neuro Surgeon is who you should be seeing.
I used to suffer terribly until I got operated on. Well the second operation worked. The first one didn't.

Neurofen wouldn't do much for that type of pressed sciatica trouble.

It flared up over a week ago. I've been to,the doctor, had an MRI scan and await the results. I will probably need to see a physiotherapist. Hopefully I won't need surgery. It's absolute agony.

Sorry to hear. I know the absolute agony of it. Hopefully you'll have a clearer picure of whats next when the MRI results come back.

You might need stronger painkillers for a few days.

I usually have a good threshold for pain but when I dislocated my shoulder a few years ago it was the worst pain I ever experienced. I was housebound with it for about 6 weeks and even the slightest sudden movement had me screaming the house down.

Get thee to a physio! And a massage therapist thereafter. Surgery should always be the last option. You might need strengthening exercises. If you go to a surgeon, he is always going to want to cut you open! Try physio first. Hope you feel better soon

I'm physically sensitive and hit I my pain threshold quickly, then after that it's all the same.

You could say I'm a lot better at handling severe pain then most, but I'm a lot worse at handling light amounts of pain then most.
