I have been doing a bit of research on sexual issues and have come across a lot of references to MSM (Men who have sex with Men)and it has left me a little perplexed. Can anyone explain the differences as I may have to reevaluate my own stated sexual orientation

i don't see what would need to be reevaluated because of it. MSM would encompass more. Gay and bi men, people who identify as predominantly straight but have had /are having sex with men. I've seen it mostly used as a medical term (like with hiv stats, it's not what you identify as rather than how you contracted it) rather than a social construct.

But really they're both just words. What is there to re-evaluate?

In my profile I describe myself as gay and am physically attracted to men however I do not have any emotional attraction an dont ever see myself getting emotionally involved hence I feel I am not 100% gay

Well go with what feels right for you. You're definitely MSM, it's a fairly precise term. With "gay", there are probably people who say the term is about the physical act and others who say it's emotional. So there's no 'right' answer, just go with what sounds right and don't overthink.

My advice. Don't overthink it. Maybe no label at all might work for you. Just go with the flow on what works in life for you.

If a man has sex with a man that is gay sex, there doesn't need to be a finer level of distinguishing to this. It's not good or bad or better/worse to be any kind of orientation, and in today's standard English language, sex between two people of the same sex is gay.

It is gay gays gayly gaying around with gays.

Lord give me strength "men who have sex with men". And I've seen people complain about pidgeon holing? what the hell is "MGM vs gay", fucking.... sparrow holing?

The correct answer is, without Judge Judy having to stop for even a moment to hear any more of the case "there is no difference; Men who have sen with men are, along with whatever else they are, gay as well, for they have gay sex".
