Its only manners though to put the divider down after your shopping for the next person.

Like holding the door for the person coming behind you.

And that is why your are 100% right to uphold that belief of yours that it is "manners".

It's not just "manners" as you put it. It's common sense.

10 hours working on a till and some dick cant be arsed to put a divider in for some redundant reason only to leave you make unwanted mistakes, what a lazy fuck, just put the divider up and stop being a big selfish baby.

Not my silly principle, but the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club's.

Two players in the boys' doubles last week were marched off the court and made to change because they were wearing [gaps of horror] black underpants.

(At least they were allowed change into the white underpants that Wimbledon kindly provided in the dressing room and not on court.)

And they made the Wicklow man wear a white skirt too

Did you read the thread before spiraling into a rant?
Did you not get the fact that
a) my shopping rarely remains undivided, as other people do tend to care about the divider on both sides of their shopping.
b) I have never let that result in a mistake by the attendant, who are not all as adverse to human contact as you might seem to think. They are not robots!

Yeah, since it's a principle, you'd assume there'd be reason... else it feels like more of a quirk (rushes to start. Re thread).

@Mango,
To you, there is no point if there is no point to you.
That is the very concept of this thread!

Otherwise it might be called something like "very deep and essential principles that people don't get but that I am passionate about justifying and explaining because I feel people's lives would be changed by my infinite practical wisdom."
That's probably one of the reasons why Thomas has put a limit on the length of topic titles.

Another one of mine:

- If I want something which is not good for me, and it is offered to me, I will decline.
- If it is offered 1 more time, I will decline.
- The 3rd time, I am likely to accept.
- Or if I decline again, then there is no having it!

It is indeed related. Though she has issues with other people doing it: it annoys her when they divide the shopping.

I have no issue with others putting a divider!

Reading the comments, it seems (logically) that the dividers are more for the cashiers than the customers.

Blah, what exactly isit that you dislike about the dividers?
